Experiencing Constant & Uncontrollable Anxiety?
Anxiety, as defined by the American Psychological Association, is not just a fleeting emotion but a complex psychological state. It involves feelings of tension, coupled with worried thoughts and notable physical changes, such as an increase in blood pressure. These symptoms are indicative of the body’s response to perceived threats or stressors. In our therapeutic context, we delve into understanding these responses, identifying their triggers, and developing strategies to manage them.
Anxiety often creeps into various aspects of life, affecting decision-making, couples’ relationships, and even one’s ability to relax and enjoy the moment. People with anxiety might find themselves avoiding situations that trigger their anxious feelings, leading to a cycle of worry and avoidance. Physically, this emotional turmoil can manifest as muscle tension, sweating, or an accelerated heartbeat, making it not just a mental battle but a physical one as well. From a clinical standpoint, anxiety is not a uniform experience; it manifests differently across various anxiety disorders, including Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Social Anxiety Disorder, Panic Disorder, and others. Each disorder presents its own set of challenges, and thus, our approach is tailored to address the specific needs and symptoms of each client.
Find Calm and Confidence Through Anxiety Therapy
Anxiety disorders, including social anxiety, generalized anxiety, and Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), each have their own unique characteristics. Our in-person and online therapy is tailored to the specific type of anxiety disorder an individual may be experiencing.
Through the application of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and mindfulness interventions, our approach is rooted in a deep understanding of how thought and belief patterns lead to anxiety. By identifying these patterns, we aim to alter them in a way that alleviates the distress associated with anxiety and the anxious behaviors those feelings may produce.
For instance, in cases of OCD, our focus might be on managing the compulsions and obsessions that characterize this disorder. Meanwhile, for generalized anxiety, the approach might be more centered on addressing a broad range of worries and fears.
Licensed across Ontario, we are based in Mississauga and frequently serve clients from nearby areas, including Brampton and Oakville. We offer both in-person and online therapy sessions.
